VOC-Breeze™

See Which VOCs are in the Breeze Like Never Before!!

The amazing new VOC-Breeze from Entech Instruments is the most sophisticated yet easy to use solution to date for collecting air samples in evacuated canisters. A single solution that literally takes the guess work out of canister sampling. The VOC-Breeze is so smart that it is capable of identifying the size of the attached canister to achieve the desired fill rate of the canister. This adjustment occurs within the initial 1% of the filling process, enabling it to achieve highly accurate, time-weighted sample collection that surpasses the precision of any competing solutions available today. Sampling can be started in several ways, including a local start button, a programmed start time, an external contact closer (trigger event), or via telecommunications. The VOC- Breeze measures and records the local atmospheric pressure, the initial vacuum in the canister, and at least 100 temperature compensated pressure points during the fill process, to ensure a linear  ramp with less than a 0.5% error over the sampling period. When setting a fill target to within 2.5” Hg of atmospheric pressure, the VOC-Breeze consistently achieves this goal with an impressive  precision of ±0.2” Hg, enabling you to achieve a maximum fill volume. Unlike the experience with many of today’s mechanical flow controllers, which necessitate setting the target vacuum  remaining to 5-6” Hg due to inherent flow inconsistencies, the VOC-Breeze actually controls the fill rate to be extremely accurate every time. Achieving maximum fill volume is critical as it dilutes  trace and growth contaminants within the canister to the greatest extent possible. The VOC-Breeze not only ensures the maximum dilution of any trace background but also optimizes the amount  of sample collected, enabling multiple analyses if required. A GPS comes integrated in every VOC-Breeze, recording both the time and coordinates of the sampling process.

Did we say SMART?

The ability to enter the serial number of each canister ties each canister to a specific sampling event at a specific location, creating a superior chain of custody has often been lacking in the past. A tablet or computer serial or Bluetooth connection allows either office or field programming and data retrieval, to maximize flexibility. However, the smart yet highly weather resistant push button interface and LED feedback makes leak check, flow confirmation, and local atmospheric pressure recording easily performed in the field without connecting an external device. Otherwise, Bluetooth pair with a single Entech supplied dongle allows connection to up to hundreds of VOC-Breeze samplers from a single device, providing very simple programming and data retrieval at the office or in the field.

Next Generation Flow Control

The VOC-Breeze “breathes” the sample in, much like people breathe (patent pending), but in such tiny breaths that a fill time as long as long as 1 month can be achieved with a proven, recorded linear  increase in pressure during the entire event. A Silonite coated flow path ensures complete delivery of the sample, and the VOC-Breeze accomplishes both On/Off control and flow control using  less Viton than today’s mechanical canister samplers, so cleanliness is no issue.

Quality Assurance

New canister-based air monitoring methods such as US EPA Methods 327 and TO-15A require “proof” that canisters and samplers are clean to very low levels, typically below 0.02 PPB for most  compounds. Unlike other canister samplers in use today, the VOC-Breeze uses an absolute flow control technology rather than those that control the flow using a reference to atmospheric pressure,  so it is no longer necessary to challenge a sampler/canister combination using an atmospheric pressure stream of humidified blank or calibration gas. Simply attach a pressurized  challenge standard or blank directly to the VOC-Breeze with a clean canister attached, and then after filling the canister can be analyzed to verify cleanliness or analyte recovery. A challenge  manifold can be obtained from Entech that allows multiple VOC-Breeze/Canister combinations to go through the certification process simultaneously, for higher productivity laboratories.
