Dane County bans use of e-cigs from county workplaces

MADISON, Wis.

Dane County Executive Joe Parisi introduced an ordinance Wednesday prohibiting the use of e-cigarettes from county workplaces.

Parisi said treating e-cigarettes like regular cigarettes is common sense.

“Ensuring our workforce has a safe work environment is critical to a productive healthy workforce,” Parisi said in a release. “It is important to protect Dane County’s clean indoor air by including electronic smoking devices in Dane County’s smoke-free air ordinance. Limiting their use in public indoor areas is just good common sense”

Wisconsin’s current smoking ban regulates tobacco. E-cigarettes use nicotine, but not tobacco, so they aren’t covered under state law.
