Micro Valve Canisters

Micro-QT& #153; and Micro-QT2™ Valve Canisters are the next generation in canister sampling devices. Micro-QT, or “Quarter-Inch Tube” Valves, have several advantages over other canister valves, including:

Eliminates cross threading
Eliminates over tightening

Compact and inexpensive

Easily cleaned (No welded surfaces)
Semi-volatiles compatible
Lowest inclusion volume
Robotics compatible

Micro-QT™ Valves

Micro-QT2™ Valves

The Micro-QT Valve is designed for sampling "through the valve" into larger, classical size canisters, and is ideal for trace level sampling due to the minimal amount of elastomer exposure in the flow path. The "no tools" design eliminates the possibility of damage due to over-tightening or cross-threading, as often happens with bulkhead valves. This new valve is compatible with all existing Entech sampling devices by simply adding a female QT to 1/4" adapter.

The Micro-QT2™ Valve is a "2-piece" valve with two options for sampling. The Micro-QT2™ valve can sample "through the valve" using all of your existing samplers.

The Micro-QT2™ Valve has the added ability to sample "around the valve" or "uncorked" to draw in a sample without requiring a separate sampling device.

This allows sampling and recovery of semi-volatile or polar compounds that would otherwise condense in the sampling device on the way into the canister.

Sampling using Micro Valves

There are several ways to fill a Micro Valve Canister, depending on the sampling requirements. Here’s a brief overview:

Grab and Restricted Grab Sampling

Sample is collected through the valve using a “non-filtered grab”, filtered grab, or filtered orifice restricted sampler. Using a critical orifice restricted sampler, fill rates are constant until the canister reaches one-half atmosphere.

Time Integrated Sampling

For slow filling of canisters to determine average target compound concentrations over time. Fill times are 10-50 times longer than with critical orifice restricted samplers and are linear throught the sampling event for time weighted averaging of the sample. Use CS1200E (or T) with 30-22800 adapter.

ATV (Around The Valve) Grab Sampling (QT2™ Valve Only)

The most rapid way to fill a canister. The valve is unscrewed, but the seal is only broken when the top section of the valve is removed from the canister, preventing vapors around the hand from being sampled. This is the best way to eliminate losses in the fitting when sampling semi-volatile and very polar compounds (e.g.- Carboxylic Acids).
